What is .NET?
The .NET platform, pronounced ( “ dot net ” ) , is held as the best triumph by Microsoft since the introduction of the Microsoft Windows® operating system. .NET is not a new operating system by Microsoft but rather an application platform designed to run applications faster, securely and protected from other applications along with allowing better integration of systems via Internet standards such as XML and SOAP.
Just as the Windows® operating system changed how businesses functioned within the walls of organizations, .NET is changing how businesses work beyond the physical location of a facility. .NET is the strategy for connecting systems, devices, information and people via a standard medium, the Internet, through .NET web services.
